I started at Wyeth eight years ago as a Nutrition Sales Representative. I had just finished uni with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Food and Nutrition, and didn’t want to take a job where I was stuck in an office all day. Needless to say, the job suited me to a tee. Then, looking for a new challenge after three years of “repping”, I moved from the field into the office as a Sales Trainer. With its focus on learning and development, it was a particularly stimulating role and I ended up acquiring a range of new skills including a Diploma in Workplace Training and Assessment and a Certificate in Management from the Macquarie Graduate School of Management (MGSM).
Three years later, I became a National Field Manager, responsible for eight Pharmacy Account Managers across the country. This position involved lots travel, coaching in the field, setting objectives and of course, helping my reps to achieve.
A year after, a 12-month maternity position came up for a Brand Manager in Marketing. I applied (because I’d always been interested in that field) and was excited about the prospect of giving it a go. I got the job, and spent the next 12 months learning a lot about marketing in the Nutrition area of the business.
I am now in a permanent role as the Product Manager of Vaccines, Australia and New Zealand. It’s a big role but incredibly satisfying, I’m doing something genuinely worthwhile – these vaccines are saving lives.
So, why have I stayed working at Wyeth? Well, I honesty never get bored - there’s always something interesting happening plus, at Wyeth, I’ve been presented with a number of opportunities I really don’t feel I would’ve received elsewhere. It’s a company that works hard to keep its employees happy and, as a result, Wyeth has an extremely friendly and respectful culture.
