Looking after baby

Wyeth is a world leader in the development, manufacture and distribution of high-quality nutritional products for babies and toddlers. Whilst breastfeeding is best for babies, providing the ideal balanced diet and protection against illness, there comes a time for most parents when they choose to supplement their baby's nutritional needs with other food nutrition sources. Wyeth has created a range of products to suit the needs of children from birth through to three years old. We are also dedicated to supporting women, babies and their families to deal with the challenges of parenting.

Mums to be
Congratulations! You have begun one of life’s most inspiring journeys, the time when new life grows within you. This is also a time when you need to look after yourself to help ensure your baby’s optimal development and your own health during pregnancy. Wyeth has developed information to help you understand the changes that you and your baby will undergo from conception through to birth.

New Mums
Whether your new baby is a girl or a boy, you will want to be in the best health possible for nurturing your child. Good nutrition is important for breastfeeding women, both to optimise milk production and to maintain your own health. As your body recovers from the stresses of pregnancy and childbirth and your mind adjusts to accommodate emotional changes you will need extra physical and emotional care. and Wyeth help guide you through.

New Dads
As a father one of the most important things you can do is to encourage your partner to follow her doctor’s advice. This may mean you have to help out more around the house so that she can rest or shift priorities as you all adjust to the changes. The first few months can be demanding but they will be the start of many fond memories!

Grandparents
New parents may be a little nervous about their first baby and the responsibilities that go along with raising a child. You can help ease their worries by sharing stories about your first experiences with nappies, feeding and caring for a baby. But recognise that the new parents may want to do things a little differently from how you did them.

Common feeding problems with babies
At one time or another, despite good care and nourishment of your baby or toddler, you may encounter feeding-related problems, such as constipation, cows’ milk allergy, lactose intolerance, or reflux. And you may be surprised to know how many toddlers and older infants suffer from dietary iron deficiency. These problems have one main thing in common, that is the distress they bring to worried parents. In the case of colic, where the connection, if any, with feeding habits is unclear, you may experience extraordinary frustration.

Toddler years
Providing a balanced diet for your toddler can present a formidable challenge. They may have unpredictable eating behaviour and changing food preferences which means that it can be difficult to ensure your child is consuming a balanced diet. You may even want to consider supplementing with a quality toddler milk to help meet their nutritional needs from 1 to 3 years of age. For tips on encouraging good eating habits in your toddler and information on the continuing role of a toddler milk drink as part of a healthy diet to support growth and development.
